THUNDER BAY – A watermain repair will close a section of Central Avenue beginning on Thursday morning.
Central will be fully closed between Riverside Drive and 8th Avenue starting at 8 a.m. Thursday. Repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the day.
Drivers using Central Avenue will be required to use the detour of Riverside Drive and 8th Avenue, the City of Thunder Bay said in a release.
A section of Balmoral Street is also closed in the area due to construction.
Operations and maintenance supervisor Adam Tempelman said water had begun to surface from the leak but was not damaging infrastructure or impacting traffic on Wednesday.
Drivers are asked to plan an alternate route, drive with caution, and obey all signage in the area of the road closure.
