Waterways rise, but remain stable: LRCA

Area waterways have risen with the recent temperature increase, but have mostly stabilized, says an official with the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority.

Area waterways have risen with the recent temperature increase, but have mostly stabilized, says an official with the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority.

In a release Bill Bartley cautioned, however, that rain in the forecast could change conditions on Tuesday.

Thunderstorms could lead to higher water levels in a number of communities, including Thunder Bay, Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge, Shuniah, O’Connor, Conme, Gillies and Dorion.
Bartley said the Neebing-McIntyre floodway is already diverting water flow and should continue to do so throughout the week.

An advisory will be issued should conditions worsen.

Bartley said LRCA staff will continue to monitor the situation as part of its flood forecasting and warning program.
