HAMILTON, Ont. -- The Lakehead Thunderwolves women's basketball team is coming home still in search of its first win of the season.

The Wolves kept it close for one quarter on the road on Saturday night against the McMaster Marauders, but were outmatched in the second quarter – and out-scored 18-6 – and were unable to climb out of their 14-point halftime deficit hole, falling 63-47.

Sarah Gates, coming off a season-opening 32-point night, followed up with 25 points in the rematch to lead McMaster (2-0) to the win.

Rookie Ally Burke had nine points to pace the Thunderwolves attack, Sofia Lluch and Tiffany Reynolds checking in with eight points apiece.

Lakehead shot just 37.7 per cent on the night, including just 2-for-13 from beyond the arc.

The Thunderwolves will seek their first win on Friday night when they tip off in their home opener against the Brock Badgers.
