Police arrested two men, a 20-year old and a 17-year old, for allegedly selling weapons and ammunition illegally.
The Regional Integrated Gang Unit seized three handguns and ammunition over the weekend. The weapons and ammunition were allegedly stolen from a north Syndicate Avenue residence sometime around July 8.

Police officers arrested the 20-year-old-man without incident at a South Vickers Street residence on Saturday. Police then arrested the 17-year-old-male at a North Vickers Street residence a day later.

Staff Sgt. Murray Brown said the guns stolen were from a registered owner. He added that the guns would be returned to its owner soon.

"This just shows the community that police are investigating handguns," Brown said. "We take the matter seriously as a police service and we were able to locate the weapons and get them off the street and charge the appropriate people with the offences."

Both suspects are held in custody and charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, trafficking stolen property.

Police also charged the 17-year-old man with breach of probation and possession of controlled substance.
