OAKVILLE, Ont. — If the prognosticators at The Weather Network are correct, Thunder Bay residents can expect to enjoy typical summer weather this year.

Most of Ontario, in fact, is likely to experience "near normal" temperatures as well as "near normal" amounts of rainfall.

One exception is the extreme western portion of northwestern Ontario, where The Weather Network predicts precipitation this summer will be below normal.

That will be a concern for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, which has already declared a Restricted Fire Zone in much of the northwest this spring.

According to Environment Canada, the region has now had three months of relatively dry weather.

The Weather Network forecasts that the most consistent period of warm weather this summer will occur during the second half of June and well into July.
