THUNDER BAY -- With the spring very nearly here, brides and wedding planners alike are looking ahead to this year's wedding season.

On Sunday, the Victoria Inn hosted the 14th annual Thunder Bay Wedding Show and more than 80 exhibitors, 250 brides and a thousand guests toured the show.

Everything from catering and photography, to wedding designers, and jewelry makers were on display.

There was even a live wedding dress fashion show, but the biggest draw, as always, was the cake dive.

Ten competitors dove into a trio of custom cakes and cupcakes in search of one ring.

The bride that finds the ring, wins a nearly $8,000 prize package that includes a bridal dress, photography session, and wedding planning.

Alisia Fui was this year's lucky winner.

“The icing was thick, my arms are actually very sore, but you just had to be aggressive and don’t let people push you around,” Fui said.

Fui was nervous before hand, but once she got into it she knew the prize was hers.

Organizers said this was final year for the Cake Dive, however, the Wedding Show is planning to replace it with a day-long couples contest next year that will include a number of different events that encourage teamwork.
