Wednesday morning shooting incident under investigation

City police are on scene following reports of multiple gunshots early Wednesday morning.

THUNDER BAY – City police are investigating yet another shooting incident on the Thunder Bay’s south side.

Police, in a release issued on Wednesday morning, say they received reports of multiple gunshots in the 1500 block of Rankin Street area, arriving just before 3:15 a.m.

The scene was quickly labelled a crime scene and contained.

A significant police presence may remain in the area while the major crimes unit investigates.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that occurred overnight on the city’s southside. 

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to a residential address in the 1500 block of Rankin Street just before 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10 following reports of multiple gunshots. 

When police arrived a scene was quickly established and contained. A significant police presence may remain, and the public is asked to avoid the area. 

Members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit are now involved in the continued investigation.
