Weekly vaccinations top 10K for second time

Adult double vaccination rate climbs to 14.1 per cent.

THUNDER BAY – More than 14 per cent of the District of Thunder Bay’s adult population has now been double vaccinated.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Tuesday announced its latest weekly tally, which showed 10,222 people received a shot of COVID-19 vaccine for the week ending this past Saturday. That’s the second highest total yet announced in Thunder Bay.

A total of 19,131 people have had both vaccine doses, with 95,169 now having received a single shot. The health unit said 7,606 people received their first vaccination last week, which raised the adult population’s total to 68.8 percent and the 12 and older percentage to 66.3 per cent. When factoring in the entire population, including those 11 and younger, 58.5 per cent have been vaccinated once. At present, anyone younger than 12 is not eligible

To date the health unit has given out 114,300 shots in total.
