THUNDER BAY — Motorists wanting to do the circle tour of Boulevard Lake this summer will encounter barricades on weekends.
It's to allow pedestrians and cyclists to enjoy the full use of Lyon Boulevard West.
The City of Thunder Bay says it had a good response to the closure of the road last summer, so it's doing the same this year, only earlier.
From the end of July 2020 to the end of September 2020 the city erected barricades at either end of the road to prevent motorized vehicles from entering.
"The city heard from users who enjoyed the open space last summer," it said in a statement Tuesday.
As of last weekend, barricades are again being set up at Arundel Street and just west of the Boulevard Lake main parking lot, from 4:00 p.m. Friday to 8:00 a.m. Monday.
They will be erected each weekend into the fall.
