Resident of the south core have a proud heritage and is shown through the annual street fair, says a member of a local business association.
Thousands of area residents flocked to the city's south side Saturday to take part at the 28th annual Westfort street fair.
Jack Moro, member of the Westfort Village Business Association, said the fair allowed for the community to get together as well as to show case all the businesses in the area.
"It’s a community event and everyone finds something that they like," Moro said. "They meet people they haven’t seen in months. While some people move away. It seems that some people come back to their roots and always love to be in Westfort. They’re proud that they are from here."
Moro added that the proceeds collected from the street fair would be invested back into the community through neighbourhood beautification projects and other improvements such as sidewalks.
