To the likely delight of parents, and dismay of students, Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute will be open Friday.
The south-side school was unexpectedly shut down Thursday after an early morning water main break in the area.
Lakehead Public Schools officials said early Thursday that they expected the facility would be open Friday, but were unable to confirm its status until early Friday evening.
The board confirmed the school would be re-opened via a media release, special alert on its website and through its Twitter account.
But while all classes will go ahead as scheduled, the cafeteria will remain closed.
“Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute students: Make sure to bring a lunch! The cafeteria is CLOSED on Friday,” read a Tweet sent by the board’s official Twitter account.
