What’s Poppin: August 16 and 17
Saturday
The Westfort Street Fair will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Westfort. It will feature live music, a beer garden, bouncy castles, sidewalk sales, vendors, food and more.
A Summer Family Fun Day will run at the North End Community Centre in support of the Canadian Children's Asthma Society from noon to 4 p.m. It will feature games, prizes, craft tables, door prizes, barbecue and concession food, a bouncy castle, music and dancing. Admission is free for kids and a donation is required at the door for adults.
The Daniel Moroz Memorial Classic Car Show will be held from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will feature cars, live music, a 50/50 draw, fireworks and more. The event is free to attend and 50/50 draw.
A Storytime with Mz Molly and Friendz will be held at the Waverley Resource Library from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. After storytime, a 30-minute guided crafting session will be led by Fairy Contagious and special guest, Devin Devine. The family-friendly event is free to attend.
The third annual Summer Matsuri Festival will be held at the West Thunder Community Centre from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Entry into the event is free.
Jordan Humeniuk and Friends will be performing at the Black Pirates Pub. 9 p.m. Entry is $10 and 19+.
Lady Mullet and the Mayhem will be performing at the Wayland Bar and Grill at 10 p.m. Entry is $5 and 19+.
DJ Rogue will be performing at the Foundry at 10 p.m. Entry is $5 and 19+.
All weekend
Oliver Agricultural Society Murillo Fair will run from Friday to Sunday. It is open 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. It will feature horse barrel racing, lawn mower races, the horse gymkhana, livestock and beef shows, animal and craft exhibits, carnival rides, market vendors, fair food and line dancing. Tickets and information are available online. Ride tickets and wristbands from Canuck Amusements can also be bought inside the gates. Barns close at 8 p.m. and carnival rides open at noon, but may close early if it is slow.
