What’s Poppin: July 26 and July 27
Saturday
The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority is holding a Silver Harbour Day with the municipality of Shuniah and guests from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Silver Harbour Conservation area. It may include the Canadian Coast Guard's search and rescue vessel —the Cape Chaillon, disc golf demos, face painting with a mermaid, a fundraising barbecue, scuba diving information with the Thunder Country Diving, interactive activities and more. There will also be limited boat launch access during the event.
A Story Time with Mz Molly and Friendz will be held at the Mary J.L. Black Library from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The free drop-in event will be followed by a 30-minute guided crafting session led by Fairy Contagious and special guest, Devin Devine.
The Thunder Bay Border Cats will play at the Port Arthur Stadium at 6:35 p.m.
Ripcordz will play at Black Pirates Pub at 9 p.m. Admission is $20 and 19+.
White Rhino will play at the Wayland Bar and Grill at 10 p.m. Admission is $5 and 19+.
Freeground will play at the Foundry at 10 p.m. Admission is $5 and 19+.
Sunday
Thunder Bay Border Cats will play at the Port Arthur Stadium at 1:35 p.m
The Northwood Hills 5K will also take place on the Parkdale Trail at Boulevard Lake from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The annual course is on a paved trail and is open to all runners. More information for registration is available online.
The Thunder Bay Art Gallery is hosting its 2025 Annual Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular tickets are $35 and member tickets are $25. Each Garden will also host a $2 raffle draw. Free admission to the gallery with tickets will also be available during the tour. Guests are advised to show their tickets to the front desk.
All weekend
Kiwanians from Western Canada will continue to gather for the annual Western Canada District Convention, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Westfort. The convention will feature educational workshops, collaborative sessions and networking opportunities daily after 8:30 a.m.
The Bay and Algoma Buskers Festival 2025 will kick off from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. It will feature buskers, food vendors, crafters and more.
Wizarding Week at the Paramount will continue all weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will feature a magical house sorting ceremony, daily movie screenings, a potion station and wand crafting, wizarding games and challenges and themed food and drinks. Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest wizard robes, cloaks or enchanted attire.
The Magnus Theatre will present "Lies and Legends: The Musical Stories of Harry Chapin" at its outdoor stage at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Seating is general admission. Those looking for accessible seating are encouraged to note it in their order or call the box office at (807) 345-5552. For student tickets or group bookings, visitors can also contact the box office.
