What’s Poppin: June 21 and June 22

Saturday

National Indigenous Peoples Day will take place at Fort William Historical Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the event is free and residents can visit the park's events page to reserve tickets for upcoming events.

The third annual Duck and Run Fun Run will run at the Kamview Nordic Centre. Day-of sign-in will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., with the run beginning at 10:00 a.m. Prizes will be available for the top three fundraisers. Each registered participant will also receive a commemorative medal. Participants can register in the 1KM/5KM and a 10,000-steps challenge.

A National Indigenous Peoples Day Powwow will run at 200 Mission Road from noon to 7:30 p.m. The free event will feature food vendors, crafters and a feast. Busing is also available from Fort William First Nation Arena.

Crossroad Music Summer Series 2025 returns from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 632 City Road for all ages.

Single Wound with Along the Lines and more will play at Black Pirates Pub at 9 p.m. The event is 19-plus and admission will be announced.

Mother Of Wolves will play at the Foundry at 10 p.m. Admission is $5 and the event is 19-plus.

Blood Red Moon will play at the Wayland Bar and Grill at 10 p.m. Admission is $5 and the event is 19-plus.

Sunday

A Breakfast Buffet Fundraiser will take place at Imperials Hall at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission for adults is $20 and $12 for children under 12.

A Sesame Street Live Say Hello Tour will be held at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium at 2 p.m. Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster and their friends from Sesame Street are coming to the neighbourhood to say hello, sing, dance and play alongside their furry friends. Elmo's puppy, Tango, will also play a game of hide and seek. 

Wiggins Productions will present Story Time with Thunder Bay Drag Queens from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. inside Goods and Co. Market. It will feature local drag queens Lady Fantasia LaPremiere and Mz. Molly Poppinz, as they read stories and sing songs. The family-friendly event is free to attend.

All weekend

A Museum Fair and Craft Market at 3190 Highway 61 in Slate River Valley will run Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4:30 p.m. Visitors can explore booths from the local museum, tour groups and historical organizations. They can also shop from local craft vendors and hear from guest speakers, including Marg Schweitzer, who will share stories from her new book A War, A Life and Bill Skrepichuk, who will discuss the history of trains in the region. Admission is $5 and children 12 and under are admitted free.
