What’s Poppin: June 7 and June 8

Saturday

The June Classic 5K and 10K will run from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Boulevard Lake. It is the first race in the Thunder Bay Metre Eaters Signature Race Series

Grain Days 2025 will go from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at St. Jude’s School. It will feature crafts, pizza and pasta making and a Pests and Bugs area with Science North.

Crossroad Music Summer Series 2025 returns from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 632 City Road for all ages.

A cornhole tournament at Sleeping Giant Brewery will start at 2 p.m., offering cash prizes, custom jerseys and winner plaques. Two players are allowed per team and the Brewery Champion will later get to compete in the Cornhole Tournament Sault Ste. Marie Festival of Beer on June 14.

Beers and Queers with Jen Metcalfe will take place at the Red Lion Smokehouse, starting 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The movie Captain America Brave New World will play at Chippewa Park starting at 10:30 p.m. Guests can drive up and listen through their car radio at 98.5 FM or sit in front in chairs and listen through the park's speakers. Guests are also asked to arrive by or before 10 p.m. or 10:15 p.m. Tickets can be paid for on-site in cash or e-transfer upon arrival and online.

Sunday

The Kite Festival will bring kite flying, outdoor games, crafts and activities for all ages to Chippewa Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Stand-up comedian Alonzo Bodden will headline the Paramount Theatre at 7:30 p.m. 

All weekend

Festival BONJOUR! will take place from Thursday starting at 6 p.m. to Saturday at 11 p.m. at Waverley Park. It will feature live music, educational activities for over 250 Francophone students and more. The lineup includes artists from Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec, DJs, games and tournaments, pilates in the park, bouncy castles, international cuisine and poutine, art workshops and artist meet-and-greets. Activities will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Rides and concessions are open weekends from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chippewa Park until the end of June and Wednesday to Sunday, plus holidays, from July 2 until Labour Day. Larger rides, such as the carousel bumper cars and Tilt-A-Whirls, will be available, as well as boats, planes and tanks for smaller children.
