Sports:

The NextGen Prairie Golf Championship for children and youth will be in Thunder Bay. Located at Whitewater golf club, from June 6-9. More information here.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats host the Duluth Huskies on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at Port Author Stadium. Their schedule here.

Entertainment:

Starting off at Magnus Theatre, the 10x10 Short Play Festival is back again. It is a celebration of local talent both onstage and off. It will showcase ten ten-minute plays selected out of 40 submissions. Between the playwrights, the directors and the backstage crew, all of whom are volunteers drawn from the local community, there are around 60 people involved. The play will be on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. More information here

A little bit later, Pride 2024 - Glitter Ball featuring Kaos and Pythia will be at Magnus Theatre’s outdoor stage! Glitter Ball is an all-ages event on Saturday where doors open at 8 p.m. for the 9 p.m. show that goes on until midnight. Local drag legends like Amber Ali, Ivan Love, Mz. Molly Poppins and Faux Rocious will make an appearance. You don’t want to miss the event hosted by Jason Veltri and Anna Fierce. Tickets are $60. More information here

On Saturday and Sunday, the Ukrainian Matrix will be at the Thunder Bay Museum. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day, the community-led exhibit will showcase physical expressions of Ukrainian culture and traditions, and highlight their roots. Alongside the exhibit, programming reflecting aspects of Ukrainian Culture will be available. More information here

Between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, at the Mary J.L. Black Library there will be a story time with Thunder Bay Drag Queens. This free, family-friendly event features local drag artists Lady Fantasia LaPremiere & Mz. Molly Poppinz as they read children’s stories, make crafts and host sing songs while fostering acceptance and appreciation of diversity. More information here.

The kite festival is back again at Chippewa Park on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The kite festival was named ‘Top 100 Ontario Festivals’ in 2015. Bring along your favourite kite and experience the Kite Festival! More information here

Markets:

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Quilts at the Village. Hosted by Canada Paula Brasil studio at the Oliver Paipoonge Heritage Park, this two-day extravaganza promises to be a celebration of quilting artistry that fosters community engagement and promotes local craftmanship. Quilts at the Village is set out to celebrate artistry of quilting while providing a unique platform for vendors and enthusiasts alike. Admission is $8, children 10 and younger are free.
