Whitesand First Nation assault sends woman to hospital

Three women have been charged with assault after attack that sent a woman to hospital in Thunder Bay with non-life threatening injuries.

ARMSTRONG, Ont. - Three women have been charged following an assault in Whitesand First Nation that sent one woman to hospital.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police media release, officers from the Armstrong Detachment responded to reports of an assault on July 21 just after 8 a.m.

Police said a woman was walking through the community of Whitesand First Nation at approximately 5 a.m. when she was attacked by a group of women.

The woman who was attacked was transported to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with non-life threatening injuries.

A 21-year-old woman from Whitesand First Nation has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.

A 20-year-old woman from Whitesand First Nation and a youth were also charged with assault. All three women are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 18 in Armstrong.
