GULL BAY FIRST NATION, Ont. —  Wilfred King has served as Chief of Gull Bay First Nation for so long, it's a challenge to keep track of how many times he's been elected.

King will serve another term after winning an election that was scheduled to happen in November 2020 but was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unofficial results from the weekend vote gave him 321 votes compared with 158 for runner-up Brian King.

There were also four other candidates in the race.

In a brief interview Monday, King said he believes this is his eighth election victory since his first in 2002.

Official results will be released Wednesday.

Gull Bay First Nation is located 200 kilometres north of Thunder Bay, on the western shore of Lake Nipigon.

About 300 members live on-reserve, while 1,100 reside off-reserve.
