RAINY RIVER, Ont. – A Winnipeg man has died following a two-vehicle collision near Rainy River, Ontario Provincial Police report.
Officers with the OPP's Rainy River detachment responded to the crash around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, along with the Dawson Fire Department.
A vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 621 collided with a northbound vehicle about two kilometres north of Highway 11, police said. The driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants.
Police identified the deceased as Daniel Big George, 36, of Winnipeg, Manitoba
Const. Guy Beaudry said two people in the northbound vehicle received only minor injuries and did not require treatment. The OPP are not looking to press any charges in the incident, he said.
