THUNDER BAY — Environment Canada has upgraded a winter storm watch for the Thunder Bay area to a full-fledged winter storm warning.
Meteorologists now predict the city will receive 15 to 25 centimetres of snow and ice pellets to accumulate between Tuesday afternoon or evening and Wednesday night.
Peak snowfall rates will be two to four cm/hr, with the heaviest snow expected to fall Tuesday evening.
Strong wind gusts up to 70 kilometres per hour from the east will result in reduced visibility in exposed areas.
If the storm materializes, many local residents will be hoping it doesn't signal a repeat of the weather pattern last spring, when it seemed Thunder Bay received a significant snowfall every Wednesday.
