THUNDER BAY - A weather system moving into the region late this weekend could dump between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow by Monday night.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for Thunder Bay. A low-pressure system is expected to track over Northwestern Ontario, with snow expected to start falling Sunday evening.
Snowfall may become heavy throughout Sunday night and continue for much of the day on Monday. Total snowfall amounts could be between 15 and 25 centimetres.
Strong wind gusts of up to 60 kilometres an hour are also expected to develop Monday morning, which could produce blowing snow.
With snow expected to accumulate rapidly, it may make travel difficult in some locations, with reduced visibility and snowfall heavy at times.
