There’s another two weeks left in this year's Toys for Tots campaign.
Chair Bob Vander Ploeg said so far the annual campaign has managed to collect $64,000. That’s off from the final tally of $140,000 collected last year.
But Vander Ploeg added that their Intercity Shopping Centre kiosk isn’t the campaign’s only source of donations.
“We also have community groups that make donations,” he said.
“Like office workers or trade unions that get together and do their own little fund raisers or make a donation from their charity fund and that’s a big source of donations for us.”
Vander Ploeg says while there is no fiscal target for Toys for Tots, the campaign’s goal is to ensure every child in Thunder Bay has a toy on Christmas morning.
