SHABAQUA, Ont. - Highway 17 west of Thunder Bay remains closed and a woman is being airlifted to hospital following a collision involving an SUV and a transport truck Wednesday afternoon.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, officers responded to reports of a collision at approximately 3 p.m. on Highway 17 just south of Shabaqua Corners.
A woman was extricated from the SUV by first-responders and is being airlifted to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with what police say are serious injuries.
There is no word yet on how long the highway will remain closed but a spokesperson with the OPP said it should reopen soon.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
