A Thunder Bay Police Economic Crime Unit investigation has led to charges against a local woman.

Police were alerted to the situation in September of 2006, when the Port Arthur Polish Alliance Legion contacted them about irregularities in their financial records.

A review indicates accounts had been manipulated and funds taken from membership dues and product sales.

It's alleged that about $100,000 was misappropriated between 2004 and 2006.

As a result, a 47-year-old woman who formerly served as the organization’s financial secretary faces fraud and theft-related charges.
