Woman charged after pulling knife on Wal-Mart security staff

Suspect facing charges of assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000.

THUNDER BAY – A 32-year-old woman is facing charges after swinging a knife at a retail loss prevention officer.

The suspect had been apprehended for theft at the Wal-Mart location on Arthur Street Monday night when she pulled a knife out of her purse to threaten the security officer and fleeing the store, the Thunder Bay Police Service said in a Tuesday news release.

The 20-year-old employee was not injured.

The suspect was located by police officers on Confederation Drive shortly afterwards, where she was arrested and taken to the police station.

She has been charged with assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000. She appeared in court and has been remanded into custody.
