THUNDER BAY – A woman was taken to hospital in serious condition after crashing in the Superior North EMS headquarters parking lot.

The collision happened around 12:45 p.m. Friday afternoon when a southbound van on Junot Avenue abruptly careened into the parking lot at about 50 kilometres per hour, colliding with another vehicle in the parking lot before being stopped near the entrance of the building by flagpoles.

Thunder Bay Police Service traffic Sgt. Glenn Porter said the 26-year-old driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, is believed to have experienced a medical incident prior to the crash.

Paramedics extricated the woman from the van and she was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

There were no other injuries in the parking lot.
