THUNDER BAY -- City police are looking into a possible abduction attempt on the city’s southside.
Thunder Bay Police Service officials say a lone adult woman was on Frederica Street near Crawford Avenue just after 11 p.m. Tuesday when a man drove up and asked her to get into his vehicle.
The woman refused.
That’s when the man exited his vehicle and attempted to pull the woman in. There was a brief struggle before the man fled.
The suspect is described as being a Caucasian man between 40 and 50-years-old, unshaven and tall with salt-and-pepper coloured hair. He wore a light grey or beige winter jacket, beige baseball hat, blue jeans and black runners at the time of the incident.
Witnesses last saw the man driving away northbound on Crawford Avenue toward Francis Street.
The vehicle is described as an older model long box pickup truck, which appeared to be dark blue in colour. The vehicle is possibly a single cab style as only two doors were observed, the truck also appeared lower to the ground than normal.
The woman was unhurt and subsequently called police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Thunder Bay Police or Crime Stoppers.
