Women held in Marathon stabbing incident

An alleged stabbing in Marathon on Sunday morning has landed a Mobert, Ont. woman in jail.

An alleged stabbing in Marathon on Sunday morning has landed a Mobert, Ont. woman in jail.

Ontario Provincial Police say they responded to a disturbance on Hemlo Drive in the North Shore community and were informed a man had been stabbed during the altercation. Officers dispersed the crowd and sent the victim to Wilson Memorial General Hospital by ambulance where he was treated and later released.

Twenty-year-old Alannah Shaganash was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and held for a bail hearing.

OPP are seeking further information and ask witnesses to contact the Marathon detachment at 807-220-0220 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
