Ontario continues to move ahead with the modernizing of its forest tenure and pricing system.
The major review of how companies access and pay for wood in Ontario was announced last summer. Those potential changes will be the focus of a full-day workshop in the city Tuesday.
The workshop is organized by Tom Clark, one of the authors of Revitalizing Ontario's Forest Tenure System. Clark says he hopes the day will provide some helpful discussion about how a new forest tenure model could work.
Topics will include business opportunities, funding and forest management implications. Clark adds that he is particularly interested in a type of tenure that includes more community involvement.
Groups from Hearst to Thunder Bay will be taking part.
The workshop gets starts at 9 a.m. at the Fort William Historical Park.
