THUNDER BAY -- Now in its seventh year, employees at the casino say they're making a difference by taking part in an annual cleanup campaign.

The World Wildlife Fund's Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup sees thousands of people pitching in across the country every year.

About 20 employees from Casino Thunder Bay took part, some on their day off, to cleanup around McVicar Creek.

"We like to clean up this area particularly because it goes right into Lake Superior, which of course is so important to us," organizer Alan Forbes said near Court Street Friday afternoon.

The creek is also part of the neighbourhood Forbes said. During the first year the group hauled away a ton of trash, now it can be cleaned up in under two hours.

"We've been seeing steady progress every year. There's is less and less garbage every time we come back so that's really rewarding," he said.
