Yard waste collection starts this week

City's curbside yard waste collection to start on Tuesday, with kraft paper bags required

THUNDER BAY - This week marks the beginning of the city's yard waste collection, officially starting tomorrow Tuesday and ending on May 26. 

Only paper bags will be accepted on regular recycling days, they can be purchased at most grocery and hardware stores. 

The city has specified that the bag must weigh under 40 pounds after being filled with small branches, twigs, leaf and other yard waste. 

Not accepted in the bags are grass clippings and pet waste. 

Branches less than a metre long, along with brush, can be left with the yard waste bags. They must be bundled with string or rope and no wider than two feet. 

There is no limit the how many yard waste bags are put out to the curb.
