As the nation waits for the federal budget to come down Thursday, the Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation is weighing in on what he would like to see to benefit First Nation communities.
Harvey Yesno says he's optimistic that the budget will reflect a common interest between the federal government and NAN, and at the top of the list is development in the Ring of Fire.
However, he is concerned that there may be a lack of infrastructure, skills training and access to clean drinking water.
Several sources suggest the Harper government is looking to cut spending.
Yesno says that although he has high hopes for the Ring of Fire, there are other communities in NAN that are also seeking attention.
