Young offender steals vehicle, police give chase

A Thunder Bay youth is facing several charges after stealing a car and fleeing from police. Around 8 p.m. Friday evening a young offender tried to steal a vehicle at knifepoint at a store on Hodder Avenue.

A Thunder Bay youth is facing several charges after stealing a car and fleeing from police.

Around 8 p.m. Friday evening a young offender tried to steal a vehicle at knifepoint at a store on Hodder Avenue. The owner of the car refused and the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect then stole an unattended vehicle that had been left running.

Thunder Bay police officers located the vehicle and pursued the suspect. The chase was called off after police identified the suspect, who then left city limits.

The suspect was then spotted back in town with the stolen vehicle and again sped away from the officers.

Police then waited at the suspect’s home for him to return and arrested him at the residence.

The suspect has been charged robbery with intent, possession of stolen property, theft over $5,000, flight from police and dangerous driving.
