THUNDER BAY -- A Valley Street home suffered heavy smoke damage throughout as the result of a kitchen fire on Sunday evening. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue received the call at about 7:35 p.m. and arrived to find no visible signs of a blaze.

UPDATE: Highway 11 and Highway 17 have since been re-opened. A series of forest fires east of Thunder Bay forced the closure of both highway passages across Canada for five hours on Monday.
