The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Austin Adduono of the Wisconsin Wilderness has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the period ending Dec. 12.

In two league contests this past week the 17-year old native of Thunder Bay racked up eight points including a six-point effort Saturday at Sioux Lookout.

He would set-up two markers in a 4-3 overtime triumph over the Flyers on Friday and followed that up the next night with a four-goal, two-assist performance in an 8-1 victory.

Earlier in the week Adduono also represented the SIJHL at the Canadian Jr. Hockey League’s prospects event in Dauphin, Man., where he had the lone tally in regulation for Team West in a 2-1 shootout loss vs. Team East on Tuesday.

Overall in SIJHL play the rookie forward is now tied for the league-lead in offensive production with 40 points. In 27 games he has scored 17 times and dished out 23 helpers.

For his on-ice efforts Adduono will receive a gift card courtesy of Pizza Hut.

Honourable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Jay Pelletier (G) Thunder Bay North Stars; Jon Mitchell (D) Dryden Ice Dogs; Jeff Dunaisky, (G) Duluth Clydesdales; Tyler Ampe, (G) Fort Frances Lakers & Brett Wur, (F) Sioux Lookout Flyers.
