Mike Assad's fourseome is off to a fast start at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Sudbury.

A steal of three in the seventh end put the finishing touches on his second win of the opening day of the event, a 10-2 thrashing of Doug Marshall's B.C. rink.

Assad scored a pair in the opening end with the hammer, than after giving one back in the second, took control of the match in the third, scoring three.

He went up 6-2 in the fifth, then stole one to all but put it out of reach in the sixth.

Earlier in the day, Assad, Alissa Begin, Andrew Nerpin and Jann Bobenic-Costante took out Nunavut's Ed Sattelberger 14-3.
Northern Ontario (2-0) takes on Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island on Sunday at the 14-team event.
