Atwill, Cumming share District Amateur lead

Surprise first-round leader Ed Atwill was seven strokes worse on Day 2 of the Canadian Tire District Amateur, but he still holds a share of the lead heading into Monday’s final round.

Atwill, playing out of the second flight, fired a two-over 73 on Sunday for a two-day 139 total, which matches defending champion Robert Cumming’s 36-hole score.

Cumming shot 71 on Sunday to move up a spot in the standings.

The duo are four shots up on Barry Caland, who scored a 73 on Sunday for a 143 total.

Albert Drake, a shot behind Caland, and Jamie DePiero, at 145, round out the top five.
Round 3 is scheduled for Labour Day Monday at Whitewater Golf Club.
