It appears Thunder Bay goalie Alex Auld has forsaken the NHL in favour of continuing his career in Europe. The long-time journeyman back-up has signed to play next season with EC Red Bull Salzburg. The 31-year-old Auld spent the past season in Ottawa, his second go-around with the Senators, where he posted a 2-4-2 record in 14 games, with a 3.35 goals against average and an .883 save percentage. Auld spent parts of 10 seasons in the NHL.

The former Thunder Bay Kings netminder has a 91-88-2-32 record in 237 career games. In addition to Ottawa, the 31-year-old Auld spent time with Vancouver, Phoenix, Boston, Dallas, the New York Rangers and Montreal.

Red Bull coach Pierre Page called Auld a great catch.

"Auld is a very talented goalie," told a German hockey website.
