EDEN PRAIRIE, MN —Having gone 4-0 at the 12th annual Prelude to the Playoffs, the Bantam AA Queens earned themselves a spot in the Championship against perennial powerhouse Edina Hornets.
The Hornets opened up the first period outshooting the Queens 10-1. Goaltender Lindsay Humeniuk managed to stop nine of those shots, relinquishing only a single goal. In the second, Edina turned up their game outshooting Thunder Bay 15-1. To her credit, Humeniuk only allowed a single powerplay goal in the period. In the final frame, the Hornets once again drove up their shot totals by a 19-2 margin scoring an even strength and powerplay goal. The Queens would manage a late powerplay goal by Emma Johnston from Kendra Fortin and Alexis Paddington to break the goose egg.
With that the Queens head home with Silver and a 4-1 record in which they outscored opponents 15-11. Alexis Paddington led the Queens is scoring with 5 goals and 5 assists through the 5-game tournament. Captain Kendra Fortin followed closely with 4 goals and 4 assists.
