DETROIT, Mich. – The Thunder Bay RBC Dominion Securities bantam AA Queens wrapped up round robin play at the Bauer World Hockey Invite in Detroit, Mich., Saturday with a tie and a loss.
Game 1 of the day saw Thunder Bay skate to a 3-3 draw with the Madison Capitols before falling 3-0 to Little Caesars of Detroit in their final contest.
After Madison opened the scoring with the lone goal of the first, the Queens got a pair of goals in the middle frame to take a 2-1 lead into the final frame.
Brenna Nicol notched the initial tally unassisted while Molly Kunnas connected on the next one with an assist going to Casandra Carangi.
The Capitols came back with a couple of their own in the third to go back in front only to see Kunnas notch the equalizer with 57 seconds remaining to determine the tie.
Meghan MacIsaac set-up the game’s last marker.
Paige Wilson was in goal for Thunder Bay.
Against Little Caesars, the Queens fell behind 1-0 in the opening stanza and then allowed another late in the third as well as one more into an empty net in defeat during the tightly contested game.
Josée Robinson suffered the setback in net for the Queens.
