Lakehead’s winning ways on the hard court are starting to attract attention nationwide.

The school’s men’s basketball team joined the weekly top 10 CIS rankings for the first time in 2010-11, landing in the No. 9 spot after a road sweep of the McMaster Marauders last weekend.

The Wolves are the No. 3-ranked OUA squad, checking in behind top-seeded Carleton and No. 7 Windsor, who arrive in Thunder Bay this weekend for a first-place battle at the Thunderdome.  The Wolves and Lancers are tied atop the OUA West with 11-3 records.

The hockey Wolves also remained in the top 10, although just barely. LU was ranked 10th in the weekly list, released on Tuesday.
