Basketball Wolves trounce Regina

Scott Morrison’s squad may not be at full strength, but don’t tell that to the Regina Cougars.

Ryan Thomson torched his Canada West foe for 25 points Friday night, pacing the Lakehead Thunderwolves to an easy 95-63 non-conference win over Regina, upping their record to 2-0 at the Graham Shootout in Saskatoon.

Joseph Jones had a dozen for the Wolves, with Dwayne Harvey adding 10 and five assists. Connor Burns had 22 to lead the Cougars.
Morrison was happy with the effort his players put forth.

"We were pleased with our outside shooting and ball movement on offence. I thought we had a more consistent effort from our individual players one through 12. However, we must put an emphasis on rebounding and defensive execution moving forward as we are not going to be fortunate enough to be over 50 per cent from three-point land each game. We must earn our wins with defence and rebounds,” Morrison said in a release issued by the team.

Lakehead takes on the host Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday.
