SAULT STE. MARIE – Hailey Beaudry’s rink has set itself up to advance at the OUA women’s curling championship in Sault Ste. Marie.

The team, representing Lakehead University, edged the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks 8-6 in the morning draw on Saturday, then dumped Queen’s 10-1, shaking hands after four ends.

The pair of wins upped Beaudry’s record to 4-2, in a three-way tie for second place in the Pool B standings. The top four finishers in each pool advance to the quarter finals.

Lakehead takes on Algoma on Sunday to wrap up round-robin play.

The Lakehead men, skipped by Michael Kean, downed Trent 11-3 in the afternoon draw and were trampled 9-2 by Brock. LU slipped to 1-6.
