Barring injury, Thunder Bay’s McKenzie Blackwood is heading to Helsinki.

The Barrie Colts star was one of just two goaltenders invited to Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp, scheduled for Toronto between Dec. 10 and Dec. 14.

The 6-foot-4 Blackwood, a second-round choice last June by the New Jersey Devils, will compete with Halifax-born Mason McDonald, who plays for Charlottetown of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Blackwood, who turns 19 in a week, has a 2.39 goals against average and .930 save percentage in 23 games with the Ontario Hockey League Colts.

He’s 16-7-0 on the season.
