A two-hit attack was not nearly enough for the Border Cats to get the job done Saturday against the St. Cloud Rox.

The Cats anemic offence was stymied by St. Cloud’s Reese Gregory, who pitched eight shutout innings, striking out 11 and walking just one in leading the Rox to a 2-0 home-field triumph.

Greg Weissert allowed just three hits in five innings for the Cats (2-2), Brandon Benson coming home on a third-inning passed ball enough to saddle the Thunder Bay starter with the loss.

The Rox iced it with an insurance run in the seventh off Mitch Kuebbing when Carter McEachern made a throwing error.
The Cats and Rox  will tangle again on Sunday.

Joe Gellenbeck and Kyle Comer had the only hits for the Border Cats.

The Border Cats return to Tbaytel Park at Port Arthur Stadium on Wednesday night.
