The Cats (4-4), raced out to a 4-0 lead iWednesday n their return to Tbaytel Park at Port Arthur Stadium and held on for a 4-3 triumph, their third win in three attempts this season against the Express.
Grant McKown continued his hot hitting ways, going 2-for-2, adding his 11th RBI in eight games.
Kyle Comer and Mikael Mogues also drove in runs for the Cats to stake starter Anthony Morris (1-1) to his first Northwoods League victory.
Jamison Steege took the loss, allowing five runs, four of them earned, before departing in the fifth. Hayden Krimmer took over with one out in the fifth, going the distance and not allowing a run.
Mitch Kuebbing earned the save, his first of the season.
Eau Claire fell to 3-6 after the loss.
The Cats and Express will meet again on Thursday. Julian Loret de Mola is expected to get the call for the home side, with Griffin Jax the probable pitcher for the Express.
