Border Cats drop third straight, fall to last place

It wasn’t Yuji Suzuki’s night. The Canadian right-hander was torched for seven runs in three-plus innings of work on Sunday as the Thunder Bay Border Cats were swept 7-2 on the road by the first-half champion Willmar Stingers.

Reagan Fowler smacked a pair of doubles and drove in three to lead the winning side offensively. Jared James was the Border Cats top threat, collecting three hits in five trips to the plate while driving in a run. Matt Batten was 2-for-4 with a run.

Zach Strecker went six for the Stingers to pick up the in.

The last-place Border Cats (4-9) are off Monday and return home on Tuesday to face Rochester.
