THUNDER BAY -- With two weeks left before opening day, the Thunder Bay Border Cats have signed a trio of players, including the return Thunder Bay's Carter McEachern.
McEachern was hitting .444 in four games before a pitch broke his wrist and ended his 2014 season for the Cats. He's a 6'1", 175-pound infielder for Trinity University in San Antonio.
Zach Thiac was an NWL All Start for the Cats in 2013 with a 2-1 record and 2.85 ERA. The 5'10", 170-pound lefty attends Nicholls State University's with a 0-0 record and a 4.50 ERA on the season.
Teammate Cole Stapler is also coming to Thunder Bay. A 6'4", 240-pound right-hander has a 2-1 record with a 5.33 ERA this year.
The Cats' home opener is May 26 against the Eau Claire Express. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
