THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Border Cats are back in the win column.

Billy Cook cleared the bases with a three-run double in the second as the Cats built a 7-1 lead in front of 590 fans at Port Arthur Stadium on Saturday night and went on to an 8-5 triumph over the visiting St. Cloud Rox.

Garrett Saunders went 2-for-4 on the night with a pair of RBI and newcomer Cam Pearcey reached base three times in his Thunder Bay debut and scored twice in support of starter Connor Centala.

Centala went six-and-two-thirds, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and two walks, while striking out four.

Andrew Gross closed things out in the ninth with a 1-2-3 frame to collect the save, his fourth of 2018.

Connor Aube was 2-for-4 with an RBI for St. Cloud.

The win snapped the Border Cats four-game slide and improved their record to 6-19. St. Cloud fell to 13-12.

The two teams battle again on Sunday afternoon, the first pitch scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
