Late-inning success and the Thunder Bay Border Cats just don’t seem to go together well this summer.

Leading the St. Cloud Rox 3-2 on the road Thursday night, Cats starter Jordan Church loaded the bases in the sixth, surrendering three straight singles, before giving way to Zach Thiac.

Two of the three scored on Thiac’s watch, paving the way for a 7-3 St. Cloud win, their third win of a four-game home-stand.

Cory Kay, with his first, and Jason Vosler, with his sixth, each hit solo shots for the Border Cats, who slipped to 2-6 in second-half Northwoods League play.

The Cats are six games back of Waterloo in the North Division. The first-half champions reeled off their 11th straight win, thrashing Willmar 20-7.
